NEIL DIAMOND
When Bill Owens and I owned NRC we did a number of extended tours with Neil Diamond. With a couple of hit single records he quickly became a rising star at the William Morris Agency. Bill Owens handled most of the William Morris product. He was often flying off to L.A. to meet with Marshall Reznick, Morris’s point man for NRC. Bill did most of the leg work in L. A. and I did the same in New York City. Arranging for the American Theatre Productions and Columbia Artist product and touring Broadway shows, were my responsibility. I do remember doing one three-city tour with Neil, though. We played San Francisco, Phoenix and Memphis (I’m not sure I’ve got these right. Gotta look that up). I remember Linda Ronstadt who was about 24 years old, was the opening act on that tour. It was fun to meet and travel with people like Linda Ronstadt at the genesis of her career.
