George Haviland Burke Garrett is Burke’s full name.
The motto for the George Haviland Sextet was ‘Jazz for Dancing.’
During the early years, between the ages of fifteen and twenty one, I mostly purchased arrangements for and rehearsed my twelve to fifteen piece band. But when I went to college in 1957, I also started working with a smaller combo, the George Haviland Sextet, so that we could play fraternity and sorority parties and get more work.
